General Objectives

Through Shadow Theatre, students of all ages will be exposed to and will develop an understanding of theatre, traditions, art culture, literature, music, oral and written history of diverse eastern and western countries.

They will also explore and create story, movement, sound, color, light form and space...

Students will come to a better understanding of these cultures while recognizing folk art as an important vehicle of the world's mythology.

The workshops will help them reflect upon their own environment and will give them an opportunity to choose the direction of the workshop by creating their own story, sets designs and puppets.

Diverse styles and techniques of shadow puppetry will be taught in this hands-on intensive program.

Students will be exposed to traditional and contemporary forms through video, a puppet library, exhibits and demonstrations.
